The Langes Messer (Long Knife) was a one-handed sword favored by nobility and peasants alike. Later popular all of medieval Europe, it was portable, easy to manufacture, and deadly. Our Messer classes teach both the historical and competitive aspects of this sidearm including grappling, use with buckler, and dueling.

The saber has been a staple of many militaries across the world. The “basket hilt” broadsword just so happens to follow many of the same techniques as the saber. Taught from military sources, this weekly class is a perfect way to begin understanding the use of the saber and broadsword.

Learn the art of renaissance era dueling with the rapier and dagger. The term “Rapier” encompasses many different kinds of swords. Rapiers were used all through Europe during the renaissance period and became one of the most prolific dueling swords of all time. Our rapier classes are taught from source materials and geared towards non-linear combat.

These classes focus on the historical uses of the longsword. As one of the most popular competitive disciplines in HEMA, we spend a lot of time teaching techniques from the source materials for both competition and historical relevancy. Other knightly techniques such as binding, grappling, and use of secondary daggers are also included in these classes.
KENJUTSU

The way of the Japanese sword. These classes teach the use of the sword of the Samurai: The Katana. Kenjutsu is what is considered to be the “original” Japanese sword discipline which later split into Kendo and Iaido. Our Kenjutsu classes include many of the tactical aspect of Samurai warfare including the use of grappling and Tanto.

Shields come in many shapes and forms. Our sword and shield class covers the use of a single-handed cut and thrust sword used with a progressive set of shields to include buckler, rotella, heater, and targes. These classes are structured from medieval and renaissance-era European combat manuals.
DOYLE IRISH STICK FIGHTING STUDY GROUP

Learn a historical martial art that is over 400 years old and still taught by the same family that created it. The Doyle system of Irish stick fighting is a dynamic and effective martial art that teaches the way of using a shillelagh (Irish walking stick) as weapon. Our study group meets weekly to study the Doyle family’s system.
THE DUELING CLUB

Choose your weapon and challenge your opponent! The dueling club an event we hold every week. It is a space where any weapon, of any discipline, can challenge another. It is a space for martial growth and cultural exchange. This is free to all members and only $10.00 for non members.
