FLEXIBILITY
FOR HISTORICAL EUROPEAN MARTIAL ARTS
Our goal was to have the Reinfeder to be legal to use in most HEMA tournaments in Europe and North America and so flexibility has been one of our main concerns in its design. While test results may vary between swords and scales, our averages among multiple swords has been 14.4kg at 25cm from the crossguard. This puts the Reinfeder below the 16kg limit that most longsword tournaments require. This also places our feder in a comfortable place for clubs to use as their standard training feders as they do not thrust hard but retain enough rigidity to properly perform techniques.
SOCIETY FOR CREATIVE ANACHRONISM (SCA)
While not intended for SCA use, the Reinfeder can be used safely in SCA events. A common way the SCA tests for flexibility is by attaching a 6oz weight to the end of the sword and measuring an inch of flex once the weight has dropped.
DESIGNED TO WORK WITH CURRENT HEMA PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
The Reinfeder was designed with modern HEMA practitioner in mind. As such, we sized the sword to work with current protective gear used in modern HEMA practice such as clamshell gloves and other equipment.
